Federal University Of Agriculture Abeokuta  (History Of FUUNAB)

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, is a Nigeria-based university located in Ogun state, Nigeria. The University was established on the 1st of January 1988 by the federal government. The university was merged with 4 different universities of technology in 1984. During the time of the merger, this led to the creation of two different universities of agriculture in Abeokuta and Makurdi.

Professor Nurudeen Olorun-Nimbe Adedipe who was the then Vice-Chancellor of the university was appointed that same period on 28 January 1988.

Years pass by, and the university date for the foundation date was later reverted to the 1st of January 1988 due to the fact that professor  Adedipe date for resuming duty was wrongly adopted as the foundation day. These changes took place around 2010 following the revisit of the instrument setting up the university during its 53rd 53rd statutory meeting. The result of this meeting led to the reversion of the foundation date to 1 January 1988 as prescribed by the law which established the university.

In 1983, Prior to the emergence of FUNAAB, the Federal Government had to establish the Federal University of Technology, Abeokuta (FUTAB).

The following year which was 1984, the university was later merged with the University Of Lagos which led to the change of the university name into the College of Science and Technology, Abeokuta (COSTAB), before the demerger of January 1988.

Since the university was starting small, it had to make use of the old campus until 1997 when it later moved to the permanent site along Alaba Road.
